    Leidos is looking for a Linux Engineer to be responsible for the architecture, provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems and applications.

    This position will provide unique solutions to solve problems with the hardware and software systems as well as monitor the infrastructure to ensure availability, reliability, and performance. Work with customers to define and innovate requirements, support customer needs implementing unique and complex permissions to segregate tenants, test recovery operations, create and destroy virtual machines, add/remove/recap hosts, replace failed hardware, and other related tasks. Provide support to mission-targeted infrastructures.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, system services, application software and system management tools for Linux systems, both natively and within virtual machines
    • Analyze, diagnose and suggest/implement potential solutions to resolve problems associated with Linux servers, hardware, applications, and software.
    • Support physical hardware installation of IT computing equipment
    • Analyze systems with the use of log files and system output to assist in determining where and why failures happen and with independent judgement provide solutions.
    • Assist in the development and enhancement of monitoring tools.
    • Supports troubleshooting with unique and out of the box thinking for problem solving using on-the-job experience, documentation (SOPs), knowledge bases, and deployed network and IT management tools.
    • Provide technical support to Production and development environments
    • Maintain monthly patching cycles for production and non-production servers
    • Interface with the customer in support of requirements gathering efforts
    • Provide ad hoc training support
    • Maintain/update accounts in the customers database

    Basic Qualifications

    • Must have an active TS/SCI with Polygraphto be considered for this role.
    • Typically requires a BS degree and 8-12+ years of prior relevant, additional experience in lieu of degree
    • Experience installing, configuring and maintaining Linux based systems.
    • Experience with bash scripting (e.g., bash shell scripts)
    • Collaborate in a team environment to resolve complex issues
    • Qualified candidate should have good problem solving and communication skills
    • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
    • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
    • Provide support for the hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
    • Build, configure, monitor and maintain virtual and storage environments
    • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration

    Preferred Qualifications

    Candidate should currently possess and maintain one of the following certifications:

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or;
    • Linux Professional Institute -Level 2 (LPI-2) or:
    • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or;
    • Sun Certified Systems Administrator (SCSA)

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
