    Position Summary: Automation Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a team that develops, supports, and maintains manufacturing automation solutions. This includes development, deployment, integration, and management of automation systems, while still maintaining safety, product quality, and adhering to internal protocols and external regulations. This position is responsible for developing and supporting automation initiatives at G&W's manufacturing facilities.

    Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
    • The main function is to manage Automation Engineers and MES Developers through project planning with estimated project tasks hours, milestones, and project completion.
    • Responsible for sustainment activities related to automation processes. This primarily includes leading, managing, and/or actively participating in troubleshooting and problem solving with manufacturing.
    • Leads the creation of sustainable manufacturing methods and striving for mistake-proofing with creative fixturing and/or automation methods.
    • Drives the advancement of manufacturing methods to support the long-term vision of growth and cost savings. Oversees research and development of new manufacturing equipment/software, processes, policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
    • Hire, train, and mentor engineers and support staff to work to their full potential. Maintain department quality and performance metrics. Write performance reviews and resolve departmental issues.
    • Review and write reports, approve expenditures, enforce rules. Recommend, plan and direct installation of new equipment. Communicate and collaborate with other managers and departments. Prepare and deliver Manufacturing Engineering-related presentations as required.
    • Project leadership with complex and ambiguous project management experience, including, but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, risk, resource, and change management.
    • Establish, track and manage key performance metrics for project success.
    • Lead and assist G&W in identification, developing, and deploying automation projects.
    • Assess automation opportunities and help create innovative equipment designs to streamline manufacturing processes and solve complex problems.
    • Work with internal and external partners to develop machine design concepts and robotic technologies
    • Ensure effective and timely project completion by regularly monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving roadblocks
    • Develop and maintain expertise on plant-wide processes and equipment
    • Create, update, and audit work procedures, standard work, and process instructions.
    • Remain current on the latest developments in automation technologies and incorporate them into new initiatives.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering preferred or other engineering disciplines
    • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in production automation with 3+ years of project management experience.
    • Experience with robotics and diligence with safety protocols and recognizing potential hazards
    • Experience in writing PLC codes, HMI code, and Vision systems or other industry-standard graphical interfaces.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and team facilitating skills.
    • Ability to mentor, motivate and develop subordinates.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Six sigma, Red X, or other problem-solving certification
    • Experience working cross-functionally with all levels of the organization structure.
    • Working knowledge and experience of CAD/CAM.
    • PMP Certification

    Leadership:
    • Project Leader/Manager: Plans and organizes the resources necessary to complete a project utilizing the necessary principles, techniques, and tools used in planning, control, monitoring, and review of projects.
