Job Description
Mechanic
No one day is the same! We are looking for a Mechanic for our East Chicago, IN location who enjoys problem solving and is a great trouble-shooter! You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of production units including pumps, compressors, working with lifting and rigging, general maintenance on rotational equipment and other duties that may be apart from maintenance duties. This position may require you to work overtime and will be responsible for maintaining company equipment. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow. We supply all tools.

- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and re-assembling parts as necessary
- Testing mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
- Working with computer instrumentation to perform diagnostics and execute work worders
- Welding and fabrication of necessary parts to maintain working order
- Other duties as assigned
What Does it Take to Work for Clean Harbors?- HS Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years experienced mechanic
- Millwright type experience preferred
- Plant maintenance experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: preventative maintenance, installations, welding, electrical, pipefitting, hydraulics
- Pumps experience, and centrifugal and diaphragm pumps an asset!
- Ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including movements such as lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, and the manipulating and handling of objects
- Must be able to lift to 50lbs
- Clean and valid drivers license
