The Med Surg Charge Nurse is a key leader within the unit, responsible for overseeing and coordinating patient care in the medical-surgical department. In this role, you will provide guidance and direction to nursing staff, ensuring that patient care is delivered according to evidence-based practices, hospital policies, and regulatory standards. Collaborating closely with healthcare providers, you will optimize patient care by monitoring assessments, treatments, and responses to interventions.

Reporting to the Director of Acute Care, your leadership as the Med Surg Charge Nurse will also extend to staff development, as you play a role in recruiting, orienting, and mentoring new nursing team members. Additionally, you will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, analyzing patient care data to identify trends and implement enhancements. Effective communication and collaboration will be essential as you serve as a bridge between nursing staff, healthcare providers, and various hospital departments. Managing patient assignments and bed utilization, you will ensure efficient patient flow while addressing issues and making clinical decisions in collaboration with your team.
