What Will I be Doing?
The Senior Analyst Tax is primary responsible for preparing and assisting with various federal and state tax reporting and compliance calculations, work papers, forms and returns. The Senior Tax Analyst must demonstrate 1) proficiency with principles of federal and state income and indirect taxes, 2) working knowledge of GAAP rules governing accounting for Income Taxes as provided for under ASC 740 and 3) general understanding of GAAP accounting standards. Position requires awareness of all governmental imposed deadlines applicable to HGV, as well as internal deadlines including, but not limited to those imposed by corporate accounting, FPA, treasury and others. As a part of the HGV Corporate Tax Department, this position will interact with multiple departments within the HGV organization and multiple team members within the HGV Corporate Tax Department.
The Sr Analyst Tax is responsible for driving company success through performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Preparation of various federal book-to-tax difference adjustment calculations quarterly and annually (e.g. 162m, stock comp, depreciation, advance payment, eliminations, etc.)
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual sales, use, excise, and transient accommodation tax returns for multiple states, counties and cities
- Assist with quarterly and annual federal and state tax provisions, including state tax current and deferred rates, state modifications and OneSource tax provision active work papers
- Assist with preparation/review of federal and state income/franchise tax filings
- Preparation/review of quarterly estimates and annual extensions for federal, foreign and state income/franchise tax filings
- Gather information and prepare/review computations for the preparation of state income tax filings to include state A&A, state modifications and coordination with several HGV departments and CPA firms
- Coordinate R&D credit and WOTC credit engagements with external advisors
- Reconcile assigned income and franchise tax accounts
- Maintain a tax filing calendar
- Monitor, research and interpret federal and state tax laws to ensure compliance
- Respond to and resolve tax notices and communicate with taxing jurisdictions as necessary
- Coordinate with external advisors and/or internal HGV subject matter experts to gather tax data, prepare/review tax workpapers/filings and respond to income and franchise tax related inquiries
- Assist with development of tax analysts and specialists
- Assist with various other routine and recurring tax projects (e.g. foreign tax payments, transfer pricing data gathering, country-by-country reporting, W8, FEIN application, etc.)
- Assist with special tax projects as assigned
- Constantly strive for process efficiencies
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment involving competing deadlines

- Minimum two (2) years of related experience in corporate or public accounting firm
- Solid understanding of federal and state income tax principles
- General understanding of US GAAP rules
- Computer proficiency, specifically with MS Excel and MS Word
- Ability to interpret the company's books and records and transactional accounting
- Ability to initiate and manage collaborative efforts of multiple teams throughout the organization
- Independent and self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment
- Ability to research, understand and document complex and technical tax matters
- Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and prevent potential problems
- Ability to work well under pressure to effectively handle multiple concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
