    SSM Health is seeking Cytotechnologists to join our team.

    We have a PRN role and also a Part time role. Only the Part time role is eligible for a $5,000 Sign-On Bonus! Please speak to your recruiter for full eligibility disclosure and details... must be a new candidate to SSM Health.

    The Part-time position would be working 20 hours per week, Day shift at St. Anthony Hospital in Midtown, OKC. The PRN role is true PRN, no set schedule, no guarantee of hours or shifts. Note that a PRN role also does not have insurance/benefits while a part-time role does.

    The ideal candidate would have prior experience and be certified as a Cytotechnologist (CT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Certification Note: Cytotechnologist With Grace Period- American Society for Clinical Pathology

    There are also stackable shift differentials available for this role that enable you to make more per hour by working specific shifts (evenings, nightsand weekends).

    Job Summary:

    Under general direction, performs and interprets a variety of high complexity laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Cytopathology laboratory to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Procedures may include screening, preparation, processing, and reporting of specimens. Cytology or Cytopathology is diagnosing diseases by looking at single cells and small clusters of cells under a microscope.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing laboratory activities for patient population served.
    • Establishes and implements a system for receipt, identification and control of specimens.
    • Prepares specimens for analyses according to specifications.
    • Selects, performs, monitors and evaluates cytochemical procedures for assessing cellular constituents.
    • Examines microscopically stained smears for evidence of malignancy or abnormalities. Marks suspicious cells on slides for evaluation by the pathologist. Records test results according to established protocols.
    • Prepares reagents according to prescribed direction; maintains reagent log and control system.
    • Maintains equipment and instruments in good working order, and ensures appropriate levels of supplies and reagents are on hand.
    • May perform administrative and clerical duties as needed.
    • Assists in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
    • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.

    Licenses / Certifications:

    FUTURE - Cytotechnologist (CT) within six months - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
