    Job Summary

    Nutrition Service Technician- Driver

    Status: Full-time, 40 hours weekly.
    Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Every other weekend required.

    Location: Blodgett Hospital, 1840 Wealthy Street NE Grand Rapids, MI.

    Starting at $15.00 per hour.

    Performs a variety of routine and non-routine tasks within the Nutrition Services Department using established practices and procedures. Acts as a peer guide to Associate Tech's within your area of responsibility. May be called upon to make decisions to ensure compliance with safety and quality initiatives.

    Essential Functions

    • Prepares and maintains serving lines including dishes, silverware, hot and cold food items, condiments, etc. Prepares and assembles cold food items such as salads, desserts and nourishments and ensures that all food and other items used are properly stored, refrigerated and dated.
    • Serves food as directed, replenishing items as needed. Disassembles and cleans food stations after use by wiping counters, steam tables and warmers.
    • Sets up and operates the cash register station and cash handling equipment to ensure the accurate collection of payments. Counts and balances the cash register, records totals, and deposits money to appropriate location.
    • Performs routine and heavy-duty cleaning such as washing, scraping, scouring, and rinsing pots, pans, utensils and other equipment. Loads, operates, and unloads the dishwasher. Checks and stores all clean equipment in an orderly fashion. Cleans major equipment such as ovens, grills, dish machine, steam tables, mixers, etc. Transports refuse and/or other materials in large carts in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others. Maintains sanitary conditions through the completion of daily cleaning assignments including but not limited to cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and operating the mechanical floor cleaner.
    • Sets up and delivers food carts to patient and other food delivery areas. Retrieves carts and returns them to the dish room for cleaning. Strips patient and cafeteria trays and sorts soiled equipment in preparation for cleaning. May be required to perform quality and compliance audits and implement or recommend solutions where audits indicate insufficiencies.
    • Picks up and delivers various materials, supplies and other items and ensures vehicle is ready for the following route by filling up the gas tank and returning keys and equipment to designated area. Keep vehicles clean, organized and prepared for the next drive to utilize. Advise supervisor of any repairs needed. Ensures timely, safe and accurate deliver and must be able to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions and abides by all traffic laws while representing SH in a professional manner.
    • Routinely participates in selected quality monitoring activities such as taking and recording food, refrigeration, dish machine temperatures, and other related quality assurance activities. Assists with the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment, and supplies reporting malfunctions to management.
    • May be required to perform quality and compliance audits and implement or recommend solutions where audits indicate insufficiencies.

    Qualifications

    • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Preferred Associate's Degree Hospitality or Nutrition
    • No Experience Food Service preferably in health care or related field Required
    • Must be 21 years of age Required
    • Must have excellent driving record Required
    • CRT-ServSafe Handler - NRA National Restaurant Association 90 Days required Or
    • CRT-ServSafe Manager - NRA National Restaurant Association 90 Days required
    • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
