MHS is currently seeking a full-time EFDA - Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our amazing dental team. The unique and child-centered structure of MHSs Dental Services program enables professionals to focus where their heart is on student care. MHS Dental Assistants use their clinical expertise to provide comprehensive dental care, assisting the dentists with all procedures, maximizing the delivery of related dental services including, direct chair-side assistance during preventive, operative, emergency and limited orthodontic procedures. Some of the responsibilities are:
To increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality, comprehensive oral health care by providing direct, chair-side dental assistance with patient assessment, diagnostic, radiographic, preventive, operative and emergency procedures.
To document the dental electronic health record accurately.
To track, schedule, and reschedule daily student dental appointments in multiple computer software systems and transmit appropriate dental appointment communications.
To build rapport with students and ensure the delivery of safe, quality dental care.
To provide patient oral health education and proper oral care instruction in preparation of and following dental treatment procedures.
To provide administrative assistance with office management duties answering telephones, retrieve voicemail, typing, filing, faxing, and scanning.
To follow proper infection control and sterilization procedures during operatory turnover, instrument processing, and housekeeping procedures.
To transport students to off-campus specialty dental appointments in MHS dental vehicle/SUV.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Hourly pay rate: $22.78 to $30.41, pay is determined based on experience. Qualifications:Vocational or other technical school, certification, training, or apprenticeship beyond High School, required.
Minimum one-year experience in family, pediatric, or orthodontic practice performing hands-on chair-side assistance.
Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
Good manual dexterity and anticipatory dental assisting skills.
Pennsylvania X-ray certification with current DEP radiology continuing education requirements (2 contact hours or 4 hours of CE every four years).
Proficiency in taking diagnostic x-rays (Dexis, digital x-rays sensors).
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel); Familiarity/experience with electronic dental computer software systems (Dentrix, Dolphin)
Current certification in infant, child, and adult Healthcare Provider CPR/AED.
Annual OSHA training.
Mandated Child Abuse Reporting training.
Current/valid PA drivers license in good standing.
Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are considered role models for MHS students.
Must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities. -
