Job Summary:
CF Industries is currently seeking an Advisor, Field Safety to join our Medicine Hat Complex location.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Personal Safety, the Advisor plays an essential role for assisting in the field coordination of site occupational safety- employee and contractors & implementation and oversight of training initiatives.
Job Description:- Develop contacts with plant personnel to help ensure employees have the skills, knowledge and training to effectively implement the corporate and facility EHS policies. This includes:
- Field interaction for projects and routine work
- Assisting in the delivery of EHS training sessions, etc.
- Assisting with meetings and inspections
- Attending toolbox talk and area safety meetings
- Being an in person, hands on, in field representative of EHS
- Provide coaching in the field to ensure plant personnel understand and follow safe work practices
- Assist EHS personnel by providing a timely field response to employee safety suggestions and concerns.
- Conduct regular safety reviews of major and routine CF employee and contractor work activities throughout the facility to develop an understanding of improvement opportunities for the site.
- Regular written reporting on field safety activities and key performance indicators.
- Lead/facilitate our field level safety observation process.
- Assist supervision/management in addressing safety concerns and implementing acceptable safety practices/conditions.
- Provide guidance to plant personnel completing incident investigations, and hands on assistance.
- In conjunction with other safety department personnel, develop training programs specific to areas of the complex and conduct training with area supervision that engages the employees (e.g., hands-on activities, etc.).
- Assist EHS personnel with development of new, and revision of current, safety and health procedures to provide a safe work environment for employees & contractors, including:
- Field level hazard assessment and control
- Incident, near miss, and Hazard ID reporting
- Safety Program Management (PPE, Fall Protection, Radiation Safety etc.)
- Contractor management
What you'll bring:- Degree/Diploma in Health & Safety or related field with 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with adult learning and coordination or development of computer-based training modules are considered assets.
- Experience in an EHS role within an industrial environment. Ideally, the incumbent will have an extensive background in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry.
- Possession of or eligibility to attain Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP or CRST) accreditation.
- Leadership: Demonstrate knowledge skills, abilities and attributes to perform successfully at CF; In the key areas of People Leadership, Results Leadership, Thought Leadership & Self Leadership.
- Communication & Coordination: Empower others through active listening, collaboration, training, education and technical advice
- Judgment and decision-making: Consider the long- and short-term implications of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Understands and operates within own knowledge and authority limitations.
