    Residential Designer

    Wisconsin Building Supply operates locations throughout Wisconsin supplying windows, doors, roofing, siding, millwork, lock hardware, columns, trim, mouldings, cabinetry, countertops, decking, railing, gypsum, lumber & plywood, insulation, and other building materials.

    The Residential Designer specializes in the design and construction of residential buildings by working with contractors or individual prospective homeowners. Consults with clients regarding the design of a residential building as well as its functionality.

    Essential Job Duties:
    • Designs residential construction drawings and produces layout drawings.
    • Participates in the remodeling, reconfiguring and conceptualizing the designs for the residential property.
    • Works directly with project engineers and project architects to building floorplans, elevations, sections and details.
    • Discusses changes and corrections with engineers, architects and contractors prior to and during construction.
    • Negotiates with the client and takes into account the client's inputs and suggestions.
    • Adheres to task level budgets and project schedules
    • Interacts with team members independently to maintain appropriate communication
    • Meets Quality Control/Quality Assurance company and meets group quality standards
    • Takes into account zoning laws, environmental factors, and the structural stability of the building.
    • Adheres to established safety rules and regulations and follows all safety procedures; maintain a safe environment.
    • Complies with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
    • Performs other related duties as required by Management.


    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Minimum education required- architectural or design related field, prefer Bachelor's degree. Applicable work experience may be substituted for education requirement.
    • Special skills required-Proficient technical writing skills. Excellent salesmanship and communication skills.
    • Special knowledge required-Reading and interpreting blueprints in an architectural related industry.
    • Other-PC Literate with Microsoft Office products, SoftPlan, AUTO CAD, or other design programs that facilitate learning in-house program with ease.
