    Job Summary

    • The Medical Assistant greets patients, obtains, and verifies patient information/identification and updates patient records accordingly.
    • Assistants make future patient appointments, runs a necessary schedule, checks in patients for the days appointments and oversees the daily schedule and coordination of treatment start dates, intakes/admissions, and performs data entry and charges.
    • Collects, verifies, and audits for charge correctness and completeness prior to being processed for billing, insurance filing, and revenue reporting.
    • The Assistant serves as a liaison for nurses, counselors, techs, and patients in interdepartmental communications.
    • Must be committed to the disease concept and the 12-step process.
    • This position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 guidelines and agency policies.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Must have graduated from an accredited school for Medical Assistants with an Associate's degree or technical degree required or Licensed Practical Nursing program.
    • A minimum of one year of experience and/or training is preferred.

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    • Current certification for Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse from the SD Board of Nursing and BCLS.
    • Medical Assistant Registration from the SD Board of Medical Examiners office required.
    • National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Registration as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or National Certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Health Career Association.
    • BLS Basic Life Support
    • CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention

    Work Schedule

    • Monday - Friday; 80 hours every 2 weeks
      • 8:00 am 5:30 pm

    Pay

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

    • $19.25 - $27.00 per hour
