    Accounting Manager

    The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, sales/income tax support, and the support of budget and forecast activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

    General.

    • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
    • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
    • Work with the VP of Finance, Controller, and Audit Manager to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
    • Manage the accounting team (include at least one accountant located in Canada) to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
    • Oversee the development of appropriate accounting controls to ensure the financial integrity of data
    • Oversee all analysis and reporting required for corporate tax compliance
    • Oversee the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
    • Establish a training and development program for the accounting team.
    • Support Division Management Group and SES senior-level team with special projects and workflow process improvements.
    • Supports budget and forecasting activities
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
    • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
    • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advice on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
    • Establish a training and development program for the accounting team.

    Reporting

    • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
    • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
    • Oversee the completion of Monthly and Quarterly Reporting Packages to Corporate using HFM software
    • Oversee the recording of intercompany transactions between local company and parent

    Job Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

    • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA preferred
    • Ten to fifteen years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area
    • Experience working in with a Big 4 or national accounting service firm is preferred
    • Experience with IFRS reporting and working with international reporting units is preferred
    • Minimum ten years of experience with accounting system software packages (Microsoft Dynamics Preferred) including the basic theories and applications of general accounting monthly close process and balance sheet analysis
    • Experience working with revenue contracts, including percentage of completion accounting
    • Experience with inventory accounting
    • Excellent PC skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office with Excel
