    JOB FUNCTION:

    Performs required work on pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic instruments and control systems in generating stations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Fundamental Responsibilities:

    • Works from drawings and instruction materials. Installs, maintains, adjusts, troubleshoots and repairs instrument, alarms and all control systems and equipment on boiler, turbine, diesel, generator and water treatment panels, fuel oil control equipment, chemical feed equipment, flue gas analyzers, smoke detectors, sampling tubes, test equipment, environmental monitoring equipment and/or any Production Department or Company equipment.
    • Initiates daily work schedule based on operating log trouble reports and assigned work from electrical supervisory personnel.
    • Installs all instrumentation and modifies controls in consultation with supervisory personnel.
    • Plans and conducts control system tests, makes test data analyses and calibrates equipment control system, as required, to optimize generating station control systems in consultation with supervisory personnel.
    • Performs job functions with minimum technical and administrative supervision.
    • Works directly with other department personnel when the performance of job functions requires such coordination.
    • Maintains manuals, records, and drawings in proper order and in current state.
    • With supervision, maintains inventory and inventory records on spare parts. Initiates purchase requisition to maintain inventory levels and for replacement parts.
    • Is responsible for equipment clearances related to work schedule.
    • Directs the work of lower classifications in the performance of all job functions; trains lower classification personnel in all job functions.
    • Performs job functions of tower classifications, as necessary.
    • Performs similar and incidental duties, as required.
    • On occasion, may perform the work of a Maintenance Electrician and similar duties on pneumatic and mechanical devices.
    • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Graduate of Control Mechanic apprentice program or the equivalent training and experience.
    • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
    • Must pass Company written and practical job knowledge test.
    • Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Senior Control Mechanic (T59).
