Position Description

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for leading a team of 2 supervisors and 15 AP processing specialists and will report to the Senior Manager Accounts Payable. The key objective for the role is to manage an accurate and efficient invoice entry process. This role is vital in maintaining accuracy of financial records of payables and vendors to ensure accurate and timely payments to our suppliers. We are searching for a Manager with a positive attitude that is constantly searching for opportunities to improve the process, develop the team and provide valuable analytical insights based on reporting, data analysis and KPIs. The Manager will assist the Senior Manager in monitoring compliance to policies and establish guidelines and procedures.

Essential Functions:

• Act as lead in all AP invoice entry processes ensuring accurate and timely data entry, proper coding, expense classification and authorization on all vendor invoices and payment requests.
• Assist in departmental documentation, internal audit controls and review of control requirements to ensure compliance.
• Resolve complex issues and handle internal and external escalations.
• Guide the team to achieve their metrics goals through process improvement and training.
• Coach and monitor performance of the Accounts Payable Supervisors, provide guidance on how to better resolve situations presented within the day-to-day operation.
• Identify and execute process improvements to help streamline the AP invoice entry process.
• Identify targets and set departmental goals for the team.
• Provide subject matter expertise to determine the root cause of invoice discrepancies and work with the business or external suppliers to reduce future occurrences.
• Establish and maintain desktop procedures for every aspect of the AP process.
• Review/monitor daily workflow including aged invoices.
• Contribute or manage projects as necessary.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in finance or related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Accounts Payable, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• Proficiency in SAP OpenText VIM (preferred)
• Strong Knowledge in Microsoft Office, mainly Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP and Reporting)
• Able to work independently, with an ability to identify continuous improvement solutions in a logical balanced manner.
• Understanding of and affiliation with business process controls, identifying process control gaps and determining mitigating actions
• Well balanced between strong technical and people skills, demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Strong ability to work with and influence others ensuring team members are motivated, engage and performing according to their goals.
• Strong desire to solve complex business problems through understanding of business processes, data architecture, business/resource constraints, and system capabilities.
• Ability to select and consistently apply standard policies and procedures working with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Relates well to people at all levels of the organization, communicates effectively, resolve conflicts, understand and meet needs of business partners.
• Consistently delivers results and demonstrates personal initiative and independent motivation to achieve goals and objectives.
• Proven ability to maintain departmental and team standards in a deadline driven environment.
• Strong overall technical aptitude including knowledge of all MS Office applications.
