    Job Description:
    Chief Medical Information Officer

    Leads and champions the efforts to adopt, validate, and implement the provider related components of the electronic health record (EHR). The CMIO's primary focus will be hospital inpatient, ambulatory and ancillary services, but will include significant coordination with local clinics and affiliated entities.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Leads and champions the efforts to adopt, validate, and implement the provider related components of the electronic health record (EHR). The CMIO's primary focus will be hospital inpatient, ambulatory and ancillary services, but will include significant coordination with local clinics and affiliated entities.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Serves as the primary physician & provider champion for all major clinical information technology projects, including EHR implementation and information security
    • Coordinates provider participation in joint governance with Community Connect host including participation on Committees such as Order Set Validation, Clinical Provider Adoption Committees, etc.
    • Educates, involves, and supports physicians and providers in the use of information systems including CPOE and order set development, as well as documentation including note template creation and standardization
    • Assists in development of IT strategy and planning
    • Acts as an advocate for protection of patient privacy and the security of protected health information
    • Supports various regulatory compliance activities including HIPAA, Promoting Interoperability, and billing compliance
    • Partners with leaders in the effective adoption of information technology solutions in support of clinical care, research and education
    • Maintains an awareness of existing and emerging technology, regulatory, and market factors that have an impact on healthcare information management
    • Accountable for the identification, development and execution of education, training programs, and services in the area of computer skills and competencies in the use of electronic tools for patient care, quality, resource management, and performance improvement
    • Support multi-entity clinical information system Work closely with the Epic Community Connect executive team members
    • Performs additional duties that may be requested


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Managerial abilities
    • Strong skills in performance management, quality and data analytics
    • Knowledge of EMR Applications Systems
    • High level of problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
    • Reliability on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

    • Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow in both inpatient and outpatient settings
    • Commitment to the use of technology to improve and positively affect patient care

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
    • Graduate from an approved school of medicine
    • Current and active Oregon physician license
    • Master's degree in health-related field, business, informatics, or information technology preferred
    • Certification in clinical informatics or related certification
    • Epic Training to at least level of Physician Provider Builder


    EXPERIENCE
    • Five (5) or more years' experience in medical practice
    • At least three years experience with EPIC
    • Experience in clinical outcomes and quality management
    • Experience in routine use of clinical information systems for patient care
    • Successful experience with implementation of healthcare applications
    • Desired: EHR implementation & optimization experience
    • Experience in providing clinical education and project management in clinical information systems desired
    • Prior experience in an informatics leadership position preferred
