    Cost Accountant

    Cost Accountant - Brunswick, GA
    The Cost Accountant provides financial support to manage and control manufacturing costs by collecting, analyzing, tracking, and reporting cost variances. As the key liaison between operations and finance, this position is responsible for cost accounting, financial analysis, assisting in development and maintenance of product standards (BOMs), maintenance of inventory standards, labor efficiency reporting, and assisting in month end closing.
    This is an on-site position in Brunswick, GA.
    Responsibilities:

    • Promotes, supports and ensures compliance with all food safety and quality practices, policies, and initiatives.
    • Plan, organize and direct all activities of the cost accounting with 50% of the time on the production/plant floor.
    • Responsible for all standard cost changes and product structures including seafood costs, dry material standards, labor and overhead costs. Ensure proper approvals are obtained on all changes to standards in the system. Additionally, review and analyze the history of new and existing products and make recommendations for standard changes.
    • Support the monthly closing process by compiling and preparing monthly reconciliations of production management and inventory modules and preparing journal entries as required to correctly state inventory valuations and cost variances.
    • Proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to operations management
    • Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers
    • Oversee the following activities for operations: Analysis of monthly manufacturing variances, inventory, labor and manufacturing overhead rates, fixed vs. variable overhead rates, labor operation hours. Monitor changes of bills of materials, review and analyze work, orders daily for errors and major variances from standards and complete the work order close process after all errors are satisfactorily corrected. Ensure all reports are distributed timely and review and correct reports for errors.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 2-4 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Effective communication skills with a strong internal customer orientation
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including outstanding Excel skills.
    • Strong cost systems background with excellent analytical skills and a sound understanding of accounting principles.
