Bruker Nano, one of Brukers four operating segments, provides customers in academic and governmental institutions, life science, materials, and applied industries with the tools to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules. Divisions within BNANO include Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy.We're looking for a talented Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Bruker Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). As part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering team, you'll lead NPI projects, guarantee seamless product transitions to production, apply DFx principles, and oversee FMEA activities. In the realm of Sustaining Engineering, you'll lead supply chain enhancements, resolve end of life issues, and maintain optimal performance for production test equipment. New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering:
- Work with cross-functional NPI teams for New Product Development from Conceptual phase through Proof of Manufacturing, Volume Production, and End of Life phases
- Lead the NPI team during Proof of Manufacturing and Production Ramp phase of the NPI projects and prepare the new product for production by making sure that all drawings, work instructions, routings, BOMs, fixtures, test protocols, and test specifications are ready for production
- Practice and promote (DFx) guidelines, Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Reliability, and Service
- Provide feedback to design engineers during design reviews using DFx principles, best practices, and lessons learned from previous projects
- Lead process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (pFMEA) activities
- Contribute to design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (dFMEA) activities
- Complete manufacturing engineering and quality engineering deliverables during all phases of NPI process
- Create and present progress reports, metrics, and PowerPoints for your projects
- Create quality inspection plans and first article documents for new parts
Sustaining Engineering:
- Support or lead supply chain improvement projects as needed (primary responsibility)
- Support production to achieve on time shipment (OTS) and revenue goals
- Design, develop, test, and qualify product and production improvements (tooling, fixtures, documentation)
- Review and approve first article parts
- Solve off the shelf component end of life (EOL) issues, find alternative components
- Create and Improve drawings, documentation, work instructions, BOM, and routings via Engineering Change Order process
- Contribute and lead Material Review Board (MRB) to process non-conforming materials
- Utilize corrective and preventive action process (CAPA) to improve product and processes
- Troubleshoot and test electromechanical and electrical assemblies to support production
- Ensure and improve uptime for production test equipment and tooling
- Support cost reduction activities such as Redesign, Insourcing, Outsourcing, and Resourcing
- Initiate and contribute to product quality improvement activities
General:
- Initiate and support continuous improvement activities
- Create metrics and reports for your projects and processes
- Document and improve your processes
- Train and mentor new employees
- Guide your process users and answer questions
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards where applicable
- Write, review, approve Engineering Change Orders (ECO)
- Support cross functional teams
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Required:
- Experience with:
- NPI process as direct contributor and project manager
- Identifying alternate components for electrical / electronic circuits
- Testing, troubleshooting, and improving of PCB assemblies and electrical circuits
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Material (BOM)
- Writing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Creating and editing production work instructions and routings
- Providing updates to internal customers and management
- Troubleshooting complex electromechanical assemblies
- SAP (or a similar complex ERP system) (example modules: Material Master, BOMs, Routings, Documents)
- Mechanical part & assembly design and making changes to existing design in 3D CAD
- Solidworks or a similar CAD software program
- Ability to work independently, be a strong team player, detail oriented, organized, and hands-on
- Effective time management skills to meet deadlines
- Above average fluency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work in Clean Room Environment.
- Ability to travel internationally (may be required ~4wks per year actual travel duration and frequency will depend on project requirements)
Preferred:
- Experience with:
- Mechanical part & assembly design and making changes to existing design in 3D CAD
- Utilizing and interpreting GD&T and ANSI 14.5
- DFx, DFMEA, and PFMEA techniques
- Managing third party contractors
- ISO9001 requirements, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma principles
- Similar, highly engineered, low volume, high mix, capital equipment environment that includes mechanical, electronic, and software composition
- Process-oriented business environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25lbs
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, or Robotics Engineering with minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering
- MSc degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, or Robotics Engineering with no min experience requirement
At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $106,000 and $120,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
