When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.The STAR (Specialty Trained and Responsive) Team -- (Float Pool) is a quick response, supplemental staffing pool composed of full time, part time and per diem nurses, with a minimum of 3 years acute care experience. The STAR Team is deployed to various units within Hartford Hospital in response to pre-arranged vacations, vacant positions and leaves of absence as well as urgent requests for staffing to meet the demands of sick calls, patient acuity and volume.
Patient care assignment are determined by hospital need. Report to North 8Nurse Manager. Candidates submit schedule availability according to posting dates. Weekend and Holiday shift requirements based on chosen position options and specialty areas.Job Summary
Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within a unit, service or other primary area of practice with an awareness of the episode of care. Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice. Functions as clinically competent. Delegates and supervises work appropriately. Reports to Unit Manager.
Qualifications
- Current CT RN license required.
- Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required, women's health specific including medicine and surgical specialties.
- 1 - 2 years recent L&D experience required. GYN experience preferred.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Preferred). - BLS certification by the American Heart Association and proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire.
- Able to work 12 hour shifts every third weekend
- Must work 1 major Holiday a year as defined in the STAR team staffing guidelines
- NRP certification highly preferred.
