Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Medical Assistant, you will assist and support the physician and other staff members by providing quality patient care with the admission of the patient to the clinical area, the collection of patient information and medical data in a confidential and organized manner, assistance with treatments, procedures, examinations and the referral of patients to specialists or ancillary care. You will also maintain medical supply inventory, stocking, and biohazard medical wastes management.
- You will assist with patient care
- You will perform laboratory testing
- You will ensure quality of laboratory services
- You will perform drug and alcohol screen collections according to company protocols for preplacement, random, reasonable cause, and post-accident situations
- You will perform testing for physical exam protocols
- You will maintain patient medical records
- You will maintain the clinical area
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
- 6 months of experience in a medical setting
Education
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Bachelors degree in applicable medical field preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. Davids HealthCare policy
- Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Department of Transportation (DOT) Urine Drug Screen required within 6 months of hire
- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Certified Pulmonary Function Testing Certification required within 18 months of hire
- Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) required within 18 months of hire
- Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the state of Texas preferred
