Health & Safety Manager

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for championing all aspects of Health, Safety and Security for the company.
Responsibilities
- Promote and lead Occupational Health and Safety within the organization, leading with H&S best practices through lagging and leading indicators
- Develop Health and Safety site roadmap
- Develop and maintain Company policies to comply with H&S Corporate policies and local regulations
- Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Liaison with government officials/agencies (MOL) to ensure that our organization is compliant with mandatory requirements
- Plan, develop, and implement safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs including auditing processes and standards
- Co-ordinate monthly inspections through the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure all corrective and preventive actions are completed within appropriate timelines
- Manage WSIB program and claims management process
- Review all site incident reports for quality, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed
- Manage Safety Data Sheet program
- Perform all other duties assigned
Qualifications:
- A college/university diploma or degree related to Health and safety is required
- At least 5 years in Health and Safety Managierial/Leadership capacity.
- Excellent knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WSIB Regulations
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and independent
- An ability to effectively communicate with different cultures and people
- High attention to detail and strong follow-up.
