    Job Description Summary

    The Value Stream Shop Focal is located onsite at an aircraft engine assembly plant, reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Edison Works Delivery Value Stream team. This role will be responsible for completing engineering activities to identify and accelerate cost out opportunities supporting the assigned manufacturing site.

    In this role, you will collaborate with cross functional teams to identify and develop project ideas. You will help coordinate, plan, execute, and implement projects owned by engineering and manufacturing teams. You will coordinate with engineering teams to identify necessary engineering support to define and validate savings. You will partner with manufacturing teams to provide engineering support to aid in the implementation of projects. You will participate in cost and lean shop events as needed.

    You may also perform other similar related engineering and / or supply chain tasks.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.
    • Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts.
    • Work with shops, suppliers, and engineering colleagues to meet cost targets.
    • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements.
    • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as needed.
    • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments within the shop.
    • Lead and own technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
    • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.

    Desired Characteristics

    • Previous experience in aircraft engine assembly.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
