The Transfusion Clinical Laboratory ScientistCLSwill ensure all practices and procedures in assigned sections meet requirements of licensing agencies. The TransfusionCLSwill assist the Laboratory Director and Manager in ensuring the day-to-day operation of the Laboratory meets the service requirements of the hospital and accrediting agencies:CMS, IDA, CAP,CLIA,DHS. When designated, acts as a general supervisor or medical directordesignee, as appropriate.

The Transfusion Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS will perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory determinations as requested by physicians including procurement of specimens, computation of test results, and submitting completed reports.

The Transfusion Clinical Laboratory ScientistCLSis also involved in evaluating new tests, choosing new equipment, and performing quality assurance and quality control. TheTransfusion Clinical Laboratory ScientistCLSwill perform accurate pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing of specimens received in the laboratory. Completes record filing processes while avoiding or minimizing errors.

TheTransfusion CLS Clinical Laboratory Scientist is assigned to work or float in appropriate areas. Responsibilities are expanded to include participation in activities relating to quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, policy and procedure review, in-service training and staff development.
