    TheHCA Healthcare New Grad Residency Programis a year-long program designed to give you hands-on experience to help establish valuable clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse you will be surrounded by a supportive community of nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents that promote learning, clinical application, and socialization, shepherding you through the transition from student nurse to registered nurse.

    Job Summary and Qualifications

    The New Grad Nurse Residency is a yearlong residency which begins with a 10-12 week (depending on specialty), PAID Classroom/Preceptorship program. It allows new graduate nurses to obtain acute care nursing experience through an intensive internship program. Open positions will vary throughout the year, and positions will be offered based on needs of the hospital, but units that typically hire New Grad Nurse residents include:

    • Medical Surgical, Orthopedics- Post-Surgical, Medical Telemetry

    Our upcoming New Grad Nurse Residency Cohorts begin on:

    • June 3rd, 2024
    • August 5th, 2024
    • August 12th, 2024
    • August 19th, 2024
    • August 26th, 2024

    Part 1: New Grad Residency Training First 5-6 Weeks (depending on specialty):

    • Instructor-led classroom training
    • State-of-the-art simulation including comprehensive debriefs
    • Certifications needed for each unit
    • Training on charting systems
    • The schedule is typically Monday-Friday, with 40 hour work weeks (8 hour days)

    Part 2: New Grad Nurse Residency Clinical Preceptorship Next 6-8 Weeks (depending on specialty):

    • Conducted at the hospital
    • You will be assigned a one-on-one preceptor to train you and acclimate you to your role
    • Regular development meetings between the resident, their preceptor and their Director
    • Customized Coaching/Onboarding report for clinical preceptorship
    • The schedule is typically three (3) 12 hour shifts at the hospital

    Part 3: HCA Residency Program Remainder of your 1styear

    • Upon successful completion of the New Grad Nurse Residency Program, residents will transition to their full-time roles at the hospital and continue professional development through routine interactions with a mentor (meet at least once a month)

    Requirements:

    • Current Colorado RN license or Multi-state Compact RN license (not required until 6-7)
    • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, within past 1 year
    • Basic Life Support certification
    • Self-motivated and strong communication skills required
    • Attendance is imperative throughout the New Grad Nurse Residency Training program
