Responsibilities:POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing production processes by providing direction and overseeing supervisory staff, ensuring that company policies, procedures and government laws are followed and to coordinate activities between departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational processes associated with the manufacturing facility.
- Develop and maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, human relations and professional development.
- Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams.
- Actively participate in the management team to promote safety, facility growth and team development.
- Prepare department budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Develop capital proposals for expansion or cost improvement projects.
- Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality.
- Work with customer service department regarding correspondence and complaint investigation.
- Direct interaction with regulatory inspectors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in production and supervision.
- Supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Food safety and sanitation principles (GMP, SQF)
- State and Federal rules and regulations (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.)
- Knowledge of plant operations and production scheduling
- High performance work teams
- Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory control computer programs
- Leadership and team skills (interpersonal, leading teams, communication)
- Good written and verbal communication skills, able to make detailed presentations and present them to upper levels of management.
