Position Overview:

Work as part of the Network Engineering team in managing the day to day operations of the various Mediacom networks.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide network support for all company managed IP networks and all applications of IP delivery as well as HSD products.
• Maintain and update engineering records of the network including network maps, databases, optical schematics, and wavelength plans.
• Provide support to NOC and Technical operation groups to resolve open IP network related tickets and issues.
• Develop, provide and maintain positive communication with vendors for diagnosing and rectifying problems.
• Work closely with Headend Technicians and Managers to facilitate optimum performance of existing CMTS (monitor bandwidth and circuit utilization and inventory).
• Provide design for port, node, and fiber deep segmentations completed to Mediacom system specifications.
• Generate project documentation to include; design, material lists, system prints, construction documentation, and fiber documentation.
  
• Perform ongoing online maintenance and diagnostics to network.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Position Requirements:

• Associate's degree preferred.
• Required - 1 year prior Mediacom Tier 1 experience or equivalent; preferred 2 years Tier 2 experience or equivalent.
• Ability to learn new software, troubleshoot digital data and voice networks.
• Working knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 switching and routing protocols: i.e. MPLS, PSPF, VPN. VLAN, DNS, DHCP, etc.
• Working knowledge of IP address administration and domain management.
• Working knowledge of transport protocols
• Fiber documentation and Hub/Headend experience strongly preferred.
