The machinist repairs damages on centrifuge parts by machining on a Cycle-controlled lathe with optional manual operation
Independently sets up and machines used as well as new centrifuge parts using manual machine operation or by programing routine cycles on the CNC controller.
Uses a spinning lathe to install claddings or rings.
Identifies damages such as corrosion, fractures or heat-effected zones and repairs damages as necessary
Sets up measuring tools and checks pertinent dimension. Responsible for own quality
Uses machine tools such as milling machines and drill presses as well as hand tools to manufacture features such as grooves or cutouts. Drills for and installs rivets in centripetal pumps.
Reviews and completes required documentation and administrative paperwork in a timely manner.
Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Follows all applicable QHSE rules and regulatory requirements.
Fulfills additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Your Profile / Qualifications
High School degree or equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience setting up and operating manual engine lathes
Able to read and interpret drawings
Reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, inspection reports, procedures and manuals. Able to write basic reports
Performing calculations and applying mathematical concepts such as geometry, basic algebra and basic trigonometry
Preferred Qualifications
Completed a formal apprenticeship as machinist with specialization in lathe machining.
2 to 5 years experience in manual machining of large diameter, stainless steel precision parts using engine lathes, preferably machining of parts for high-speed rotating equipment.
Experience operating and programming cycle-controlled lathes, preferably with Simens Sinumerik 840 D sl Manual Turn controller.
Experience working with the metric system, including use of metric measuring tools and reading / understanding of metric drawings. Understanding of the ISO standards relating to geometrical tolerances, tolerance classes for holes and shafts and indication of surface texture
Experience in evaluating and identifying part failures such as corrosion, erosion, cavitation or fatigue in stainless steel parts.
Detail oriented
Self-motivated, dependable and able to work with little direction
Adaptable to changing work demands and desire to learn new skills.
Good social skills and able to work in a team.
