    Life Skills Coach

    Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant.

    LSF is looking for a talentedLife Skills Coach who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

    Purpose and Impact:

    Assist in the coordination of direct services and life skills for youth in maternity/group home residential and aftercare services.

    Essential Functions:

    • Develop and prepare weekly group plans and activities for youth in residential services at Currie House.
    • Facilitate Aftercare Youth Support Group for youth in order to connect youth with educational, career, job, social, relational, other life skills, and community resources.
    • Monitor and maintain all requested and required documentation.
    • Work with residential staff and counselors to ensure communication regarding youth, and actively participate in staffing's/meetings regarding youth program goals.
    • Interact with respective school district personnel and community partners to maintain communication regarding the coordination of services for youth in the Hands of Mercy Everywhere program.
    • Participate in discharge and service planning with youth and parents/case managers.
    • Work with volunteers to ensure appropriate mentoring and tutoring.
    • Enforce all program and agency rules, policies, and provisions.
    • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must have a high level of energy, be adaptable to irregular hours and must be flexible.

    Education:

    High School Diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred.

    Experience:

    Minimum of two years of experience working with at-risk youth 10-17 years of age.

    Skills:

    • Must have good organizational, verbal, and written skills.
    • Dependability, discretion, and good judgment are essential.
    • Must have computer skills, must be capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with youth, team members, and stakeholders.
    • Life skills training preferred.

    Other:

    Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service populations cultural and socio-economic characteristics and needs.

    Principle Accountabilities:

    • Reports to the Education and Life Skills Director
    • Team player with co-workers, administrators, and community partners.
    • Accurate, complete, and timely submission of required reports.
    • Innovative and cost-effective provision of educational and life skills program.
    • Delivery of appropriate life skills and academic studies.
    • Adherence to agency policy and procedures.
