    Scientist (Immunology)

    We have a Scientist opportunity available in Dr. Youngblood's lab in our Department of Immunology.

    As part of the Department of Immunology at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, the Youngblood lab is dedicated to cutting edge CD8 T cell research and applying basic science findings toward the advancement of immunotherapy.

    Our research is focused on epigenetic regulation of T cell functions, CD8 T cell exhaustion, and CD8 T cell memory differentiation. This knowledge of T cell biology uniquely positions our lab to analyze patient samples with the intent of developing strategies to optimize T-cell-based cancer therapies.

    As a Scientist within the Youngblood lab, you will serve as an integral bridge between other scientists, clinicians, and bioinformatics research scientists within the Departments of Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplantation & Cellular Therapy to help coordinate our comprehensive effort to study the epigenetic regulation of the immune system in cancer patients.

    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with an interest in immunology and immunotherapy. Excellent communication and organization skills are required, as you will play a major role in coordinating research efforts among various labs within the institution. In addition, the ability to work as a team player and collaborate effectively are essential for this position. The ideal applicant will conduct independent research and carry out diverse responsibilities, including:

    • Applying research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge to help develop, design and conduct research projects.
    • Ensuring project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
    • Supporting data collection and analytical needs of research projects.
    • Conducting literature reviews and write reports and manuscripts.

    Minimum Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

    Minimum Experience:

    • Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Bachelor's degree.
    • Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree.
    • Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD.
    • Exposure to immunology or an appropriate scientific field is field.

    Compensation

    In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Scientist (Immunology).
