    Purpose & Impact:

    Completes participants initial intake and assessment. Continue, as appropriate, with follow up and re-assessment throughout client participation. Position requires that incumbent take independent action; exercise discretion and take initiative by interpreting and explaining complex program and services information to participants. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing and to research topics related to services for refugees. Ensures that all clients comply with the rules and regulations of the CRS program through coordination of services throughout CRS service matrix (Case Coordination, Legal, Youth, Employment, Child Care, Youth, Mentoring, Adult Education & ESOL) and prepares individuals for gainful employment, community integration and ultimately self-sufficiency.

    Essential Functions:

    • Coordinates and oversees daily client registration process.
    • Interviews clients individually to assess needs and provide referrals after intake.
    • Conducts the Employability Skills Training Workshops for clients, as groups or one-on-one sessions.
    • Provides counseling and intensive Employment Orientation to hard-to-place clients.
    • Ensures development of clients Employability and Self-sufficiency Plans.
    • Monitors compliance with the goals and objectives set in clients Employability Plan.
    • Ensures achievement of clients Self-sufficiency Plan.
    • Coordinates the daily activities of all follow-up procedures.
    • Coordinates daily internal Monitoring procedures.
    • Daily interaction with the funding source and providers about clients status changes and eligibility.
    • Conducts on-going follow-up services and internal monitoring of all open and closed cases.
    • Ensures case file compliance with DCF and LSF policy regarding documentation.
    • Determines and imposes sanctions, lifts pre-sanctions and sanctions in a timely manner.
    • Responsible for documenting these activities in the case file.
    • Responsible for attending training meetings, seminars, etc.
    • Provides thorough training to new employment specialists and keeps all the employment specialists updated on all the changes implemented by DCF.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Other Functions:

    • Attend all organizational required trainings.
    • Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
    • Attend training that will enhance professional growth in the area of case manager and documentation, or other topics as deemed appropriate by the program manager.
    • Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations located within the U.S.
    • Maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free work area.
    • Assists Supervisor with Internal Audits and other projects.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to travel to other counties specified in the contract.
    • Able to sit and stand for long periods of time utilizes telephone, computer, and typewriter.
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

    Education:

    Bachelors degree or equivalent; experience working with refugees or 4 years experience working in the refugee field with an associate degree.

    Experience:

    4-year experience preferred working with refugees.

    Skills:

    • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Excel)
    • Must possess a valid state drivers license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required by contractual agreement.
    • Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
