    What we need

    We are looking for a Director of Facilities to join our Symbotic team. In this new leadership role, you are the chief conductor of our organization's physical operations, overseeing everything from maintaining buildings and grounds to ensuring safety and security. You are the ultimate problem-solver, wearing many hats and working behind the scenes to create a smooth-running environment for everyone else. This role has oversite of our buildings in Wilmington MA and Canada and is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient work environment that improves business performance and optimizes staff productivity.

    Symbotic is a robotics and warehouse automation company that has developed proprietary, innovative robotics and software to deliver an advanced automation solution to make the supply chain faster, more efficient, and more profitable for manufacturers, distributors and retailers of all sizes. We are headquartered in Wilmington, MA and deploying our system at customer locations across North America. The Symbotic system is currently live at 14 customer sites and that number is growing rapidly.

    What you'll do
    • Manage facilities and site locations, including lease negotiations, space planning and required repairs or renovations.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance and facilities management plans that ensure optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of all buildings.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the facilities and maintenance teams, including planning and scheduling work, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and contractors to ensure high-quality work and cost-effective solutions.
    • Manage the budget for facilities and maintenance, ensuring that all expenses are within budget and that resources are allocated effectively.
    • Establish appropriate corporate security and building security protocols and risk controls.
    • Ensure that facilities comply with applicable health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of employees in a crisis.
    • Collaborate with other departments to assess space needs and plan for facility needs, expansions or modifications.
    • Optimize space utilization to support the company's growth and operational requirements.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the facilities and maintenance teams, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.


    What you'll need
    • Bachelor's degree or business equivalent degree a plus. Professional certifications in facilities management are desirable.
    • Minimum of 10 years' experience leading and managing facilities management, workplace experience or a related field with at least 5 years in a leadership role
    • Experience working in a fast-growing high-tech industry.
    • Ability to develop, implement, and manage strategic plans and budgets for facilities and workplace experience at a large scale that aligns with our growth and business objectives.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulations and safety standards.
    • Experience in negotiating and managing contracts with vendors and service providers.
    • Strong experience in project management, including planning, executing, and overseeing large-scale projects.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
