Description
The Maritime Solutions Division (MSD) of Leidos develops and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients. The Maritime System Solutions (MSS) Portfolio within MSD supports these missions at a variety of locations with a variety of customers.
This position seeks two current employees with a passion to lead, elevate, and support engineers embedded within the existing Leidos MSS team located at NIWC Bayside. Each leader will manage a team of 1-6 engineers in the execution of contracted work at NIWC Bayside. This management position is expected to take less than 15% of the existing employees time. Present job duties already being performed will continue to be required, no additional hires will be made at this time. Engineering Managers will report to an overall MSS San Diego Area Lead (yet to be named).
Engineering Managers job responsibilities will include direct line supervision of current and future employees on-site at NIWC including yearly reviews, pay cycle evaluations, mentoring, job guidance, seeking HR support when needed, organizing and coordinating project duties with Program Manager and site leads, coordinating work between Leidos organizations, and supporting the overall employees career progression. Leader will have hiring, firing, promotion, and award recommendation authority. Leader will be responsible to lead and support employees in their position, requesting support from senior management as needed, employee growth with the company and mission as desired, and addressing performance issues if necessary.
Position may require periodic travel to and coordination with engineering activities at other Leidos facilities and government facilities, in multiple locations across the United States.
Primary Responsibilities
- Continue to execute current job responsibilities while adding supervisory duties to on-site team.
- Direct line supervision of current and future employees on-site at NIWC including yearly reviews, pay cycle evaluations, mentoring, job guidance, seeking HR support when needed.
- Organizing and coordinating project duties with Program Manager and site leads.
- Coordinating work between Leidos organizations
- Supporting employees career progression.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited school, minimum 5 years of experience.
- Experience with underwater/marine engineering and the unique applications of working in a maritime environment.
- Experience in subsea hardware system development.
- Effectively work with a team establishing strong, collaborative working relationships with government customers, technical staff, senior managers, and peers.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in mechanical/ocean engineering or naval architecture
- Experience in working with US Navy Programs
- Existing security clearance

Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
