Position Overview

The Jan itor assists operations by performing a variety of tasks including daily housekeeping, minor repairs, and maintenance of the company facilities and grounds.

Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour

Essential Job Duties

• Keep interior and exterior of buildings in clean and orderly condition.
• Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as vacuuming floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clear and remove rubbish.
• Notify management or designated personnel concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems, ordering housekeeping supplies, and materials.
• Inspect and repair minor problems with facility's plumbing (e.g., fix leaky faucets), electrical (outlet and switches), HVAC (replace AC filters, etc.) and other building systems.

• Maintain grounds around the building by mowing grass and trimming shrubbery using mowers and hand power trimmers.
• Clear snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels.
• Set up, arranges, and removes decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
• Gather and empty trash, collect and separate recyclables from trash and deposits in correct collection bins.
• Perform insect and rodent control on a periodic basis.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to prevent hazards.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follow all safety procedures; maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Comply with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
• Will be required to operate a lift truck. Previous experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum education required - High school diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum experience required - 1 to 3 years of commercial housekeeping and building maintenance experience.
• Other - Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently. Must be knowledgeable and experienced in the use of various hand tools. Must understand cleaning chemicals and how they work when combined. Must have good work ethic, attitude and be reliable. Solid basic math skills are necessary. Capable of reading and understanding English instructions both written and verbal; read, comprehend and comply with Company's policies and procedures including safety and security. Commitment to a safe work environment. Reliable transportation is required.
• Physical demands - Include standing and walking for extended periods of time, exposure to outdoor temperatures and weather conditions, climbing ladders, walking on roof deck and other heights, bending or stooping, regularly lifting up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more; able to reach overhead performing lifting and pushing up to 25 pounds. Able to sweep overhead from side to side e.g., to perform high reach dusting.
