Job Purpose/Summary
The Helper, Truck Technician is an entry-level maintenance position responsible for assisting the Truck Technicians in maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times in compliance with all company safety programs and guidelines.
- Take direction from the Truck Technicians to support their needs during preventive & corrective maintenance operations or other required work.
- Assist Truck Technicians in preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and daily job functions.
- Learn from the Truck Technicians how to troubleshoot & diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Use the time assisting the Truck Technicians in learning more complex tasks and gaining industry insight.
- Train in the use of the computerized maintenance management system and assists with recording maintenance activities in Maximo.
- Keep an accurate inventory of parts, materials, and tires in the Shop Storeroom & Maximo.
- Keep shop work areas, work benches, parts storeroom and outdoor areas organized and clean at all times.
- Pick up and deliver parts, materials, and equipment as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent with basic math skills and the ability to speak, read and write English.
- Desire to learn and grow
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer skills (office suite and Diagnostic).
- Professionalism, initiative, and leadership.
- Effective organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Must have and maintain a Class C Drivers license to operate company pickup trucks.
- Pass pre-employment drug test as well as background check of employment and criminal history.
