    Welder I ATSM 1st Shift

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Certificate or 1-3 years of experience in all weld processes. Proficient at reading prints. Knowledge of arithmetic. Must pass 1G and 2G weld test (GMAW13) and /or any other code/customer quality related requirements.Arm-Hand Steadiness; the ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. Multi-limb Coordination; the ability to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting, standing or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. Manual Dexterity; the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials. Problem Sensitivity; the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Selective attention; the ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted. The following training is required for this job position. Applicable Safety Training related to specific job tasks 80% minimum pass rate. ISO 9001 Quality Policy and all job specific procedures, work instructions, and use of applicable forms.

    DUTIES

    • Weld materials together completely to form component.
    • Measures, fits, tacks, and welds components onto and inside of shells.
    • Grinds shell to assure proper joint.
    • Visually inspect welds to assure that blueprints, code, and quality standards are met.
    • Weld components in flat position.
    • Wear common PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, masks, and shields.
    • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
    • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
    • Recognize, set up, operate hand, and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
    • Select and install torches, torch tips and filler rods.
    • Perform daily maintenance on assigned equipment (i.e., Hoists).
    • Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization.
    • Perform housekeeping and other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

    Comply with the following Environmental, Health and Safety duties as a condition of employment:

    • Comply with safety rules
    • Attend and Participate in Safety Training
    • Participate actively in the safety process
    • Ask questions if something isnt known
    • Report all accidents and injuries immediately
    • Submit suggestions to improve safety
    • Know responsibilities in the event of an emergency (i.e. what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.)
    • Be a coach to others who are acting unsafely
    • Must have Lock-out tags after 6 months
    • Attend and participate in all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings.
    • Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels.
    • Spill management and clean-up.
    • Air shutoff locations.
    • Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
    • Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.
