LSF is looking for a talented Grant Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.
Purpose and Impact:
Responsible for providing expertise in pre and post grant research, review, and composition. The hired individual is expected to work closely with the Supervisor and other key staff, in meeting target goals set forth to increase federal, state, and local funding dollars toward all programs as deemed necessary. They will be expected to work with federal grants as well as foundations, charities, and other projects or initiatives. This individual may also identify potential sources of funding, utilizing available grant databases and resources. Where necessary and appropriate, the Grants Specialist may also manage the application process in conjunction with the Supervisor. The hired individual must be able to take independent action, when appropriate; exercise discretion, and take initiative. The Grants Specialist must be able to communicate well orally, in writing, and have reasonable experience in researching topics related to vulnerable communities. The individual must also be willing to be flexible during grant deadline submissions.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with the development of federal, state, and local grant proposals and other application materials.
- Review applications to ensure completeness and that they meet all submission requirements.
- Coordinate with Supervisor in compiling list of necessary attachments as part of application process.
- Conduct research to identify potential funding opportunities for the agency.
- Coordinate with Supervisor to track progress of projects in progress, submitted, and project outcomes.
- Coordinate with Supervisor and Finance teams to review and finalize budgets related to grant submissions.
- Assists in grants related outreach and follow up to internal and external staff, including funders and potential funders, when necessary and appropriate.
- Ability to complete any professional development or additional training as directed.
- Ability to work remotely and also travel to programs, bidders conferences, webinars, or other information sessions related to grant support, when necessary.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Communications/Journalism or related field. Preference for related or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in grant writing, preferably with some knowledge of working with vulnerable populations.
Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and pre/post grant process.
- Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the agency.
- Strong research and writing skills and knowledge of or willingness to learn of information sources.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Computer proficiency preferred.
- Must maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends if necessary.
- Must have the ability to exercise common sense and good judgement.
Other:
Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
