Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant ICU
A long established medical group in Salem, OR is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to work in the Intensive Care Unit at at large teaching hospital. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will also be offered hours at the medical group's pulmonology clinic. This blended position will offer the NP or PA the experience of care for high acuity critical care patients with the balance of working in the outpatient clinic a few days per week. The exact shift can be adjusted dependenton the needs of the PhysicianAssistant or Advanced Practice RN and the clinic/hospital needs.
The Mid-Level Provider will provide patient care within the legal scope of practice and under the oversight of the Medical Director. The NP or Physician Assistant (PA) in an intensive care unit (ICU) plays a crucial role in managing the care of critically ill patients alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers. Some of the specific responsibilities of a Physician Assistant in the ICU may include:
- Conducting physical assessments of patients and interpreting diagnostic tests to aid in the diagnosis and management of their medical conditions.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans, which may include administering medications, performing procedures such as intubation or central line placement, and ordering and interpreting lab tests.
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure that patient care is coordinated and comprehensive.
- Monitoring patients for changes in their medical condition, and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Providing education and counseling to patients and their families about their medical conditions and treatment options.
- Participating in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes in the ICU.
