We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist Lead for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. Job Summary and Qualifications
The lead respiratory therapist administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of Physician and by prescription, by performing the following duties.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required with 6 months of hire date and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 3 months of hire date.
- Flex and 'call in' additional staff as productivity necessitates.
- Monitors and manages the appropriate cleaning and disinfection of non-disposable equipment.
- Monitors and manages the ordering, inventory, and safety checks of rental equipment.
- Oversee shift report process and supervises the performance of the staff therapists.
- Print out entire RT Rounds Report and divide assignments according to procedures and acuity. Write assignments on the board for referral. Fax the assignment sheet to all departments at the beginning of shift.
- Assembles and cleans all patient care equipment
- The technician is responsible for maintaining patient files.
- Print & resolve any outstanding arterial blood gas results at the end of every shift. Maintain exception report.
- The technician will be required to perform Diagnostic 12 lead ECG's.
- Engage with staff. Oversee shift flow. Available to assist staff whenever possible.
- Assist with orienting and training new employees and students.
- Expectations Ethics and Compliance1. All employees will be held accountable for behaviors displayed relative to the values articulated in the Mission and Values Statement. Will act with absolute honest, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.2. All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually.
- Performs Arterial Blood Gases.
- Performs bedside Spirometry, and adheres to respiratory care protocols, (Incentive Spirometry, IPPB, Meter Dose Inhalers, etc).
- Responsible accurate department charting.
- Responsible for all Emergency Calls
- Sets up and administers Aerosol or oxygen therapy. (Nasal Cannula, Vent-Mask, Partial or Non-Rebreather, simple oxygen mask, Aerosol mask, etc). Adhering to the age specific requirements.
- Responsible for restocking, logging, and securing crash carts.
- Assist with maintaining & auditing crash carts monthly.
- Should call and/or round on staff and assist as needed.
- Assist with initial and annual competencies.
- Assist and delegate lunch break coverage.
- Participate with Performance Improvement.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
License / Certifications / Requirements:
- Requires RRT certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Must be licensed by the state of Texas as a 'Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner'.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications required.
- New Hires must obtain ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire date.
Education:
- Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Technician Program
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 year experience in all areas - NICU, ER, critical care experience.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- This position requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during various task/activities. PPE includes, but is not limited to gloves, masks, safety glasses and gowns.
