Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Manager-Cobble Hill SPD-Day Shift(35 hours).
In this role, the successful candidate Coordinates and monitors all sterile processing and supply distribution functions such as decontamination, preparation/packaging, sterilization of surgical instruments ordering, storage of materials, supplies usage and storage and mobile patient equipment management. Responsible for first line supervision of all sterile processing activities, staff scheduling, shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments to the operating rooms.Job Responsibilities:

Oversees and creates schedule and staff assignments

Monitors and organizes workload and productivity. Reassigns staff to different assignments within the department as needed

Responsible for completing end of shift reports and ensuring shift handoffs
4
Reviews next days case schedule to ensure prioritization of trays/supplies needed
5
Ensures that sterile instruments trays, supplies, and special equipment for surgical procedures are readily available
6
Oversees staff performance and corrective disciplinary actions (including time and attendance)
7
Completes annual and periodic performance reviews for staff
8
Ensures staff compliance with regulatory standards, annual competencies and health records i.e (immunizations)

Ensures staff are familiar with and properly utilize department instrument tracking system

Troubleshoot sterilization and disinfection equipment as places services calls. Tracks equipment service downtime

Responsible for record keeping of HLD and sterilization logs

Ensures communication with SPD customer service for timely delivery of equipment and instruments

Ensures that employees adhere to safe practices.

Monitors staff adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy
15
Performs regular QA audits of processed items. Initiates immediate recall of instruments of instruments with questions of sterility or defects

Performs other departmental responsibilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or the equivalent.Current certification for Central Service by an accredited agency - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Minimum of five years experience of SPD or two years experience SPD with certification as instrument specialist and proven abilities. Must hold comprehensive knowledge and experience in surgical instrumentation in Gen, ENT, Ortho, Neuro, Plastics, Cardiac. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interpret procedural policies and to follow written instructions required. Ability to perform detailed work and basic mathematical calculations. Must have a thorough knowledge of microbiology as it relates to SPD and OR, cleaning procedures, disinfection and sterilization protocols, and the maintenance, disassembly and assembly of hospital equipment, surgical instruments and regulatory standards. Operational knowledge of standard OR surgical supplies, prostheses, instruments, and equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology, including surgical procedures, and human anatomy is required. Previous experience maintaining and operating all pieces of automated and mechanical equipment used in the processing areas (e.g., washer/decontaminator, sterilizer, cart washer, etc.). Ability to operate basic office equipment (e.g., personal computer, photocopier, etc.)..
Required Licenses: Central Sterile tech (HSPA)Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in healthcare or related field. CIS certification. CHL certification. Knowledge of basic instruments. Experience with inventory control and supplies. Experience with instrument tracking system. Experience with timekeeping softwareQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $92,658.80 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
