To provide automation support in a state-of-the-art continuous process food manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors reliability of plant electrical installations and equipment, analyzing problems and taking or recommending corrective actions i.e. Effectivelytroubleshoot machines and entire control systems including PLC, relay logic, 600V, hydraulics, and pneumatics in daily plant operations.
- Analyse existing Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)/Relay Logic systems and recommend and make changes to conform to current plant electrical standards.
- Ability to integrate Windows software & HMI (Human Machine Interface) with machine control systems to meet the needs of the plant i.e. Wonder ware, Panel View, etc.
- Develop and maintain programming standards for the plant. Program PLCs and layout PLC systems to conform to existing plant philosophies.
- Must ensure reliable & up to date prints & logic are backed up onto the server after EVERY change, and available to all who need them. Must document all changes and communicate those changes effectively to all team members.
- Manages and maintains a library of procedural manuals and electrical systems standards and drawings. Must be able to create & maintain drawings using AutoCAD according to plant drawing philosophy and standards.
- Monitors work to ensure compliance with plant, engineering and health and safety-related legislation and regulations.
- Prepares specifications for new and existing equipment, reviews reliability and performance data and recommends layouts, modifications and repairs to improve performance.
- Manages electrical engineering projects, leads design and implementation teams, monitors progress, anticipates and resolves problems.
- Be familiar with and take a lead role in emergencies
- Maintain the required hygiene, safety and quality standards on the production floor
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification as an Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist or Licensed Electrician with equivalent experience is required.
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility would be an asset along with knowledge of food safety and HACCP is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Proven trade experience in technical problem-solving and decision-making
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Familiarity with Siemens and Allan Bradley PLCs and frequency drives
- Prior involvement with Continuous Improvement projects
- Flexibility to undertake other work that may be assigned from time to time which may be outside the area of normal duties
