    QA Manager

    Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager
    Location: Columbia, South Carolina
    Pay: $115,000 - $130,000 + Bonus

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure compliance and maintain USDA records.
    2. Develop and manage a prevention-oriented, ISO900-based plant quality system.
    3. Responsible for effective implementation and maintenance of HACCP.
    4. Respond to consumer and customer complaints and initiate internal corrective action.
    5. Provide QA approval on new products and major changes to existing products and processes.
    6. Establish and maintain a supplier and audit program.
    7. Conduct regular in-house audits of the quality system and GMP's, measure outgoing product quality, and keep management informed of trends, holds, and regulatory issues.
    8. Provide technical services on product improvement and special projects.
    9. Establish and coordinate rules, procedures, and training programs to keep team members up-to-date on procedures and regulations.
    10. Write and update raw material specifications.
    11. Operate the micro-lab including procedures, budget, costs, staffing, and micro programs.
    12. Operate the QA department within budget limits.
    13. Ensure an effective recall program is in place and maintained.
    14. Set up a program to ensure the sanitation department effectively cleans the equipment.
    15. Assist with plant audits for potential new customers and write and/or approve product specifications.
    16. Train supervisors and lab technicians to perform their job duties.
    17. Provide necessary information to R&D on new products, improvements, and raw materials.
    18. Provide information to manufacturing on statistical process control for product weights.

    Qualifications:
    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field required.
    • Desirable CQE license.
    • Ability to travel as required.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably with USDA.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Proficiency in operating machines, tools, equipment, and work aids.

    5 years in food manufacturing

    Bachelor's degree
