Purpose & Impact:
The Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing coordination, assistance, and support with relevant duties as needed for all Childrens Board Family Resource Centers (CBFRCs). The position will develop, coordinate, and deliver programming based on determined needs of the community. The position will be knowledgeable in community resources and partners that can provide programming to families with school age children in the Centers.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain knowledge of community resources to meet the needs of families.
- Supports Programming Manager with community and member needs assessments through surveys, interviews and other means to identify community and member needs.
- Assists Programming Manager with Public Relations duties to strengthen community and partner relationships.
- Supports the development and implementation of quality family support programming that meets a full range of family needs at all Centers.
- Supports the development and delivery of monthly Center Driven themed engagement events/programming that include educational and social-emotional components.
- Facilitates and participates in programming at each Center on a regular basis to include direct delivery of family support programming.
- Supports and trains Center staff in the delivery of quality family support programming.
- Document services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, input data into a data base system.
- Coordinates volunteer recruitment, applications and training needs.
- Assists Programming Manager with special assignments and projects.
- Provide back-up support for CBFRC data collection and entry to CQI Specialist as needed.
- Participate in community outreach, education, and special events on a monthly basis.
- Assists with operation of Centers to assure Centers meet or exceed all quality assurance, fiscal, legal and contract requirements.
- Coordinate and assist service partners or organizations using the facility who serve Center members.
- Maintains positive working relationships and facilitates communication with community partners.
- May supervise volunteers as required.
- Perform daily operating procedures.
- Prepare programing, meeting and event fliers.
- Provide center coverage as needed.
- Other assigned duties as directed.
Other:
- Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
- Located at one Center but will report to any Center that requires support.
- Understand the value and foundation of the Protective Factors framework.
- Practice Family Support Principles
- Cross trained to perform daily operating procedures.
- Participate in Center events and work to support contractual outcomes.
- Obtain training in the Center data system: attendance and needs tracking system and maintain member confidentiality.
- Bilingual employees may be needed to review and/or translate (verbal or written communications)
- Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have a high level of energy, positive attitude, adaptability to irregular hours.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include some evenings and Saturdays.
Education:
Bachelors Degree Social Work or related field required.
Experience:
- Two years of experience in providing support services and related programming to families.
- Additional education and/or other experience may be used to meet this requirement.
Skills:
- A proven ability to work cooperatively with a variety of people.
- Knowledge of office equipment.
- Must have telephone skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to draft good, clear correspondence and reports.
- Must have good bookkeeping and budgetary skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) including Excel skills.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Reports to Programming Manager.
- Team player with co-workers and administrators.
- Accurate complete and timely submission of required documents and reports.
- Liaison to community providers.
- Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
- Must maintain confidentiality of all client information.
