    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Wound Care Specialist (RN).

    In this role, the successful candidate The Specialist, Wound Care (RN) will use their knowledge, skill, training, and experience to conduct consultations, provide education to the patients, the patient support systems and staff, and create a provision of care. The specialist will coordinate, implement and evaluate wound care initiatives. They will act as a resource and subject matter expert to enhance the delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards and utilizes quality measures and strategies to provide safe and competent care.

    Job Responsibilities:

      • Uses expertise as a wound clinician, educator, and consultant in order to influence outcomes by increasing the quality and cost-effectiveness of outcomes for patients, nurses, and the organization. Specialist assists with provision of care for patients with ostomy or continence issues.
      • Specialist offers assessment, impression, recommendations according to professional and departmental standards, and follow-up care recommendations when consulted to evaluate a patient identified in the targeted patient population.
      • Acts as a professional role model to all levels of staff by incorporating expertise and related experience into all aspects of patient care and the nursing process. Responds to individual, unit-based, and/or other wound care-specific requests.
      • Facilitates a strong collaborative interdisciplinary approach to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
      • Develops, promulgates, and fosters the implementation of process standards for the delivery of patient care relevant to the area of practice and provides education on the prevention of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) and other skin related injuries.
      • Fosters ongoing patient/patient support system education in an effort to facilitate effective clinical management across the continuum of care consistent with the individual needs of the patients and the goals of the institution.
      • Mentors, trains, educates, and offers coaching to Skin Wound Assessment Team (SWAT) nurses [a unit-based skin champion]. Utilizes resources to plan and meet SWAT nurse learning needs. Serves as support and resource for the education of other health professionals, including the nursing residents.
      • Evaluates the effectiveness of education and development activities in achieving desired outcomes. Partnership with Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS).
      • Provide patients with care that is based on the individual learning needs and developmental stage.
      • Assures compliance with standards and regulations disseminated by all applicable agencies.
      • Promotes own professional growth, development, and expertise in the role (i.e. attendance at conferences, CEUs, certifications, etc).
      • Develops and/or utilizes a system for identifying, tracking, and managing patients in a designated population or service.
      • Assists with the development of and implementation of action plans in response to internal and external benchmarking data, problems, findings, issues, incidents, and complaints.
      • Leads or participates in interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives to cultivate an environment that promotes patient clinical outcomes and experience. Promotes positive patient experience by facilitating excellent customer service.
      • Applies and disseminates research findings that support the development and implementation of evidence-based practice.
      • Participates in occurrence reviews, compliance investigations, RCAs, and ACAs and assists in the facilitation of the corrective action plans with nursing leadership and stakeholders.
      • Collects, maintains, and analyzes internal and external data regarding nursing wound care, identifies opportunities for improvement and presents this information in various forums.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
    Current and valid NYS Registered Nurse License is required.
    Current and valid BLS certification is required.
    3 years of experience in clinical nursing practice.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: verbal, writing, editing, graphic skills and attention to detail.
    Basic computer skills with knowledge of EHR (electronic health record), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities..

    Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Certification in specialty area desirable, (example: CWOCN certification).
    Master's Degree in Nursing or related field or in progress.
    Membership in relevant professional organizations is recommended.
    Wound care experience.

    Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $105,999.99 - $133,800.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
