JOB SUMMARY
The Data Governance Manager is responsible for partnering with the Director of Data & Analytics on implementing, executing and managing the overall Data Governance strategy across Gulf States Toyotas business transformation efforts. These initiatives will have high visibility as they are on the critical path of an enterprise transformation for implementing an overall GST Data Governance process. These initiatives consist of Intake and requirement process, Data & KPI standardization, implementing the Governance committee, Master Data Management, Data Security, Data Quality, Data Retention, Data Glossary and Self-Service reporting.
The Data Governance Manager will need to possess strong interpersonal and influential skills as they effectively manage expectations for stakeholders and develop strong relationships with senior leadership. This individual must have the organizational savvy to successfully manage ambiguity, risks, issues, and work streams across the business units and Governance Committee. The Data Governance Manager will work with the Management teams as needed to assess the health of the overall Governance strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Partner with the Director of Data Governance in developing and executing the roadmap for Data Governance
- Partner with Director of Data & Analytics on Data Management, Data Security, Data Quality, Security & Permissions, Data Retention, Data Glossary and Self-Service reporting
- Partner with the Director of Data & Analytics on setting up the Data Governance Committee which will include identifying Master Data, Data owners as well as Data Stewards
- Lead on building the and managing the GST Data catalog ensuring standardization across naming conventions, data descriptions, KPI standardization thus ensuring ease of access to data and one source of truth across the GST enterprise
- Assist in identifying Data Owners and Stewards as well as building the overall RACI for each role
- Building documentation and succession plans for Data Stewards across business streams
- Build strategy around training business users on accessing and utilizing data as well as cross training across Business Analysts
- Gate keeper for business requests including intake process as well as ensuring business engagement on providing functional requirements.
- Mentor and train the Business Analysts on requirements process as well as building the knowledge on key business functions and KPIs
- Identify and manage source systems for analytics (S4 Hana, ME, External sources)
- Act as the liaison between Business and Technology for Data & Analytics
- Develop and leverage strong partnerships with business and technology leadership.
- Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
- Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a bachelors degree with 5 - 8 plus years of experience in the field or in a related area or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across different streams and org structures
- Previous experience in Data Governance Implementation as a functional lead or functional project manager
- Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to break down complex functional requirements into manageable work breakdown structures.
- Strong analytical skills with an aptitude of understanding complex business processes and functions.
- Ability to challenge, recommend and redirect teams as necessary for successful project delivery.
- Has a track record of aligning large groups of diverse stakeholders on project plans, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
- Ability to navigate significant business relationships and align where both parties achieve a win-win outcome.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the Data Governance life cycle
- Experience understanding business functions and mapping them to data artifacts
- Experience in managing initiatives across business transformation
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The associate is occasionally required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
