    SUMMARY:

    The Senior Manager, State Policy and Strategy position is responsible for serving as the internal subject matter expert for matters related to the state policy environment and collaborating with Government Affairs and cross-functional partners to ensure patient access to therapies, optimize Lundbeck's business environment, and secure reimbursement for Lundbeck products. This individual will provide state policy intelligence to internal stakeholders, effectively communicate impact and bring awareness of business-critical issues for informed decision making, and work with subject matter experts within the company to assess impact on Lundbeck's products and goals. In addition, this individual will lead analysis of state policy issues that could impact Lundbeck's patients, including assessment of risk, business impact and magnitude of threats, while also developing and supporting Government Affairs' proactive policy priorities and associated strategies. This role is also responsible for working with executive leadership on trade association engagement to ensure representation of Lundbeck's point of view and supporting State Government Affairs lobbyists with policy analysis on legislation impacting Lundbeck.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Analyzes and monitors proposed state legislation and/or regulations that would impact Lundbeck's business interests, prioritizing threats and opportunities and determining Lundbeck's position.
    • Partners with the Government Affairs team to shape strategic direction of state advocacy program based on evolving state policy landscape.
    • Maintains deep understanding of policy matters and emerging trends in the external environment, including federal priorities affecting states, through engagement with trade associations, peers, consultants, trade press, as well as other internal and external experts; analyzing for impact on Lundbeck's portfolio and pipeline.
    • With the Director, Federal and State Policy and Strategy, partners with cross-divisional stakeholders including Regulatory, Medical, Market Access, Legal, and Patient Advocacy to evaluate the impact of state policies on Lundbeck business objectives and access to medicines as well as validate key messages in support of Lundbeck advocacy
    • Partners with commercial stakeholders to plan for new product launches and ensure Business Development is educated on the state legislative landscape.
    • Engages frequently with PhRMA's policy and regulatory functions to drive the Lundbeck voice in trade association positions.
    • Cultivates deep subject matter expertise in state policies affecting the pharmaceutical industry, including but not limited to those related to access and affordability in state-regulated commercial insurance and Medicaid
    • Prepares executive briefing documents in support of trade association engagement.


    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:
    • Accredited Bachelor's Degree
    • 5+ years of healthcare experience with a minimum of 3 years in a policy-related role
    • State-level policy experience
    • Understanding of proprietary needs of launching products in state programs
    • Exceptional strategic thinking skills accompanied by strong analytical skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics, keen attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills
    • Strong writing and PowerPoint skills
    • Strong influencing and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
    • Demonstrated ability to self-direct work and operate in a deadline-intensive environment

    PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:
    • MBA
    • Experience in a policy role in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or a trade association
    • Financial Analysis/Modeling experience
    • Experience with SAP and Concur


    TRAVEL:
    • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 15% domestically. International travel may be required.

    The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $ 150,000 - $175,000 and eligibility for a 15% bonus target based on company and individual performance , and eligibility to participate in the company's long-term incentive plan.
