    Bariatric Dietitian

    Unit Description:

    Sodexo is seeking a part-time (8-16 hours/week) Outpatient Bariatric Dietitian for Appalachian Regional Healthcare located in Hazard, KY. This is a hybrid (remote and on-site work) position, for a dietitian with experience in working with the bariatric patient population.

    Benefits:

    • reimbursement for AND dues, state licensure fees and CDR renewal
    • three weeks of vacation, eight holidays and three personal days paid each year
    • reimbursement for continuing education events

    The successful candidate will:

    • perform initial nutrition assessments and preoperative nutrition guidance and education;
    • counsel post-op patients to ensure dietary compliance, nutritional adequacy and formulation of weight management goals;
    • collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to recommend, implement, and monitor nutrition interventions with overall improvement in clinical outcomes; and
    • participate in quality improvement projects within the bariatrics clinic.

    • Registered Dietitian credentials and licensed in KY;
    • previous experience with bariatric surgery in an internship or previous work;
    • excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and interdisciplinary team members;
    • the proven ability to effectively engage, motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition; and
    • a commitment to continued education in the bariatrics and weight management field.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) (Note: For those seeking registration after 2023, this must be a masters degree)

    Credentials Requirement:

    • Meets eligibility requirements for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and will become registered within 120 days of hire. In some states and/or facilities the RD/RDN credentials is required at the time of hire
    • Certification/licensure as required by state(s) of practice
