Position Summary
This position is responsible to meet the goals and objectives of the organization by assisting the leadership team in planning and implementing a world class safety program and ensuring compliance with all state, federal and local governmental EHS regulations by performing the following duties.

- Plans and implements safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This includes written programs, recordkeeping, reports, inspections, monitoring, testing, and training. Employee also remains current in changing EHS regulations.
- Supports Corporate EHS initiatives, assignments, and processes.
- Delivers safety, health and environmental training programs to ensure employees knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety and environmental regulations pertaining to all ProAmpac facilities.
- Manages and completes monthly environmental recordkeeping and inspections as needed to assure compliance with applicable permits, regulations, and requirements.
- Files annual local, state and federal environmental reports potentially including air, waste, water, Tier II, and Form R.
- Assist with management of hazardous waste disposal program.
- Manages EHS programs, including cost control/reduction and accident prevention/ reduction, safety behavior audit and risk assessment programs.
- Manages workers compensation cases to ensure reasonable return to work and cost containment.
- Conducts safety orientation of new hires, contractors and visitors which includes PIV certification if necessary.
- Analyzes safety history to identify unsafe trends/behaviors and uses information to develop safety strategies.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, including but not limited to fire prevention, correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials, blood borne pathogens, hazardous communication, lockout/tagout and emergency action plans.
- Assists site safety committee to inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, evaluating production machinery and or chemical exposures to determine safety hazards and alternative solutions.
- Conducts inspections and audits to ensure compliance to the ProAmpac EHS standards.
- Coordinates development of an EHS improvement strategic plan for the business and sites through collaboration with the site managers.
- Coordinate visits from internal and external regulatory authorities.
- Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.
- All other duties as needed.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- 4 to 8 years experience performing EH&S within a manufacturing environment
- Must have knowledge of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out)
- Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, and ASME standards preferred.
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications is a plus
- Subject matter expert in a particular EHS field (safety or environmental)
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Visio, Teams and Outlook a plus
- Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
- Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
- Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
