    Position Details:

    Hartford Hospitalis seeking a per diem Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Critical Care Liaison team. The successful APP will be responsible for the early identification and management of patients at risk for deterioration on the medicine/cardiology units and will make recommendations regarding escalation to the Critical Care and Step-Down areas. The APP will serve as a resource to primary service and nursing floor staff and liaison to intensivists.

    Role: Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners

    Setting: Inpatient, critical care

    Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Role Scope:

    Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

    In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

    Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the providers practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)

    Training: Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

    Experience: 2+ years experience as a PA/APRN in acute care or specialty area.

    Preferred:

    10 years' experience as a PA/APRN, 5+ years supervising advanced practitioners
