Job Summary for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Provides health care services using radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs nuclear medicine procedures, and related techniques producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Responsibilities for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Administer prescribed, pharmaceutical grade, radioactive materials to patients.
- Collect and document data provided by radiation emitted from human tissue using complex detection and analyzing equipment.
- Perform quality control on all equipment and radioactive materials in the manner, and at intervals required by policy and regulation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director or Manager.
Qualifications for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Graduate from AMA approved program for Radiologic Technology and/or NuclearMedicine program or equivalent.
- Preferred: Associate Degree. One to two years of experience in an acute care setting as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- State Registered Radiologic Technician with Texas Medical Board
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB) or ARRT in Nuclear Medicine required within 90 days of employment start date
