Today, Electronic Warfare (EW) is a growing enterprise - protecting the warfighter and our national security against ever-adapting threats. The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) at Leidos currently has an opening for a mid-level electrical engineer to support cutting-edge programs in San Diego. As an electrical engineer on these programs, you will join a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of signal processing and software engineers who are developing state-of-the-art technology that advances government technology from seabed to space.
The selected individual will design, develop, integrate and test high-speed printed circuit boards for system-on-chip (SoC) and application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC). He/she is expected to perform a wide range of functions to include hardware design, firmware development, manufacturing oversight, system integration, and test. The selected individual must possess a strong understanding of prototype circuit design, small form factor PCBs, SoC components, and radio frequency (RF) hardware for use in embedded systems. This includes application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC), field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), digital signal processors (DSP), and data converters. He/she must also possess a background in circuit board test and analysis to include power, thermal, mechanical testing procedures, test setup, and special test equipment. The selected candidate must also possess a sound knowledge of radar concepts as well as a good understanding of algorithm implementation and hardware/software implementation.
Primary responsibilities:
Design and integrate high-speed circuit boards to support a diverse array of signal processing applications
Perform trade studies for part and architecture decisions
Develop hardware specifications
Size FPGAs, SoCs, ASICs for digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm implementation
Develop FPGA firmware
Provide technical guidance and subcontractor oversight throughout PDB development process to include supervising design, layout, procurement, assembly, fabrication, and test.
Resolve complex issues related to approaches, requirements, specifications and design
Work closely with a team of software, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure Leidos PCBs meet product requirements
Perform integration and test activities to include developing tools and techniques for testing and verification
Attend regular customer meetings and lead technical discussions/program reviews to support federal government customers
Create product documentation and technical reports to include system requirements specfications, interface control documents, hardware description documents, test reports, and design reviews.
