OverviewWe are looking for a dynamic and passionate Histotechnologist (Histotech/Histology Technician) to join the Mountainside Team as a PRN employee!

ResponsibilitiesWhat Youll Do
The Histotechnologist will be responsible for performing embedding, cutting and staining of tissues and pathology specimens received. Daily activities include proper organization of files, blocks, tissue samples, and quality control of testing procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Prepare microscopic slides on tissue for diagnostic purposes; includes fixation, dehydration, infiltration, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include both paraffin processed tissue and frozen sectioning
- Perform histochemical and immunohistochemical stains on a variety of tissues to assist in diagnosis
- Process specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized data entry
- Prepare and maintains all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications
- Maintain laboratory, equipment, and accurate records of quality assurance control; assists with teaching and implementation of new procedures
- Perform disposal of hazardous substances (i.e. formalin and tissue)
- Monitor Morgue Refrigeration alarm
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned

QualificationsWhat Youll Bring
- Associates Degree in applied sciences; Bachelors preferred
- At least 1-2 years experience as a Histotechnician
- Current and active American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification HT (Histotechnician) certification required; HTL (Histotechnologist) certification preferred
- Problem solving and reasoning skills
- Strong computer skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management and peers
- Able to work independently
